«Library Mercury» (before 2019 known as «Odesa National University Herald. Library Studies, Bibliography Studies, Bibliology») is a peer-reviewed open-access biannual academic journal, established in 2007. It is included in the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine (category “B”) in historical science (as per Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No 1188 dated 24.09.2020), which can publish relevant dissertation results and findings.
«Library Mercury» focuses on theoretical and practical aspects of Library and Information Science studies, in particular in librarianship, bibliography and bibliology:
- Research into the evolution of library science and principles of library system operations;
- Investigation of the history of the Scientific Library of Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University, formation of its stocks, in particular collections of rare and the earliest printed books, including incunabula and hand press books;
- Studies in the field of librarian biographistics;
- Research into private book collections (both personal and dispersed collections), manuscripts and archive materials;
- Exploratory analysis and bibliographic studies of stocks of the Scientific Library of Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University and those of other higher education institutions;
- Identification and analysis of promising directions of librarian activities through a period of rapid digital transformation and informatisation of society;
- Research on innovations to implement at modern libraries to contribute to the improvement of library service quality;
- Review of newly-published academic journals and books.
The journal publishes academic articles covering original research and case analyses, as well as short notes and reviews in relevant fields, which are available in both print and free access & download online versions in Ukrainian and English.
