Description

The Psychoneuroimmunology Journal is a scholarly open access, peer-reviewed, and fully refereed journal. It presents original papers, reviews, and communications on all aspects of psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) research. Original manuscripts are expected to provide a clear contribution to advances in the field of PNI research, focusing on interactions between the nervous system and the immune system. Reviews are acceptable in all areas of PNI including translational implications of the PNI basic science research and theoretical analyses of the neuroimmune structure and function from clinical observations. Reviews concerning novel PNI concepts should be developed fully from the basics, carefully relating the topic to the field, and with a critical analysis of recent work.

The goal of the Psychoneuroimmunology Journal is to improve the understanding of PNI through structural and functional integration of physiological and pathophysiological interactions between the nervous and the immune systems. Articles can specifically identify elements and processes of one of these systems and elucidate their roles in the other. The journal welcomes submissions in multiple disciplines, including neuroscience, behavioral science, psychology, immunology and comparative studies. Studies extending the impact of PNI into the pathogenesis of other systems will also be considered and encouraged. These include PNI-based pathogenic mechanisms of metabolic and endocrine dysfunction. The materials published in the Psychoneuroimmunology Journal consider wide ranges of approaches including animal experimental studies, clinical case reports, meta-analysis of clinical data, animal and human field studies of specific species and populations, and in vitro analyses of cellular and molecular mechanism.
