Depik (Rasbora tawarensis) is an endemic and threatened species occurred in Lake Laut Tawar, Aceh Province, Indonesia. This fish is the trade mark of Takengon the capital city of Aceh Tengah District. Currently the population of depik is decreased sharply and according to the Conservation Breeding Specialist Group ? IUCN which was published 2003, this species has been categorized as Critical Endangered (CR) increased from Vulnerable in 1990. Because of importantly this species in ecology and science, this species is eternalized be the name of this journal.
Depik is a joint publication by Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Syiah Kuala University, and Indonesian Association of Oceanologists, Graduate School of Syiah Kuala University and Research Institute of Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, Indonesia three issues per year on April, August and December. The first issue has published on February 6, 2012. Depik is publishing the original article, short communication and review papers on:
