ICST Transactions on Network Computing (ISSN: 2032-9512)

Description

There is a growing interest in network based computing platforms and services. The network computing technology is expected to reshape the information and communication technology landscape in the next five to ten years. This trend is driven by several factors such as cost savings, scalability and availability. Although, there seems to be a general consensus on the benefits and advantages of network computing, there are still many issues to be addressed before it can be adopted as a widespread technology. These challenges such as control, performance and reliability, security and privacy, and lack of established standards to name a few, have attracted significant interest among both academic and industrial research communities. This surge brings a real need for a journal, which will report the recent advances in this emerging field. Therefore, this new journal, the ICST Transactions on Network Computing (TNC), aspires to serve as a premier forum for disseminating the results of original research work in network computing. TNC aims to present the latest theoretical results, applications and developments of network computing related techniques and methods.

Dr. Taskin Kocak is an associate professor (UK: senior lecturer) in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at the University of Bristol, UK. Previously, he was an assistant professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL, USA. Before joining the academia, he worked as a design engineer at Mitsubishi Electronics America in Raleigh-Durham, NC, USA. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Duke University, Durham, NC, USA. His research interests are in computer networks and communications, and hardware design. His research activities have produced over 80 peer-reviewed publications, including 27 journal papers. He has secured external grants from both American and British funding agencies totalling $2.7 million as a PI or Co-PI. He founded and organized the Advanced Networking and Communications Hardware Workshop series (2004-2006) which were held in conjunction with the premier International Symposium on Computer Architecture and were supported by both IEEE and ACM. He is an associate editor for the Computer Journal published by the Oxford University Press. He is also currently serving as the sole guest editor for a special issue this journal as well as the lead guest editor for a special issue of the ACM Journal on Emerging Technologies in Computing Systems.
