Published since 1994, Territoires Contemporains is a French-language
journal that examines the proposition that shifting sociopolitical
forces rather than traditional lands per se which constitute
political communities; applies said proposition to the formation and
development of political communities in the modern word; and
ultimately prescribes a new role for historians and
historiographers as sociologists, psychologists, philosophers, and
political theorists as much as observers of history. Subjects of
Territories Contemporains include the value systems, ideological
underpinnings, and political manifestations of key political
communities on the world stage and how their interaction with other
political communities, states, and the international system affect
both
their own identity as well of those of others.
