The Journal has been a pioneer for the past several years in its commitment to open access publishing.

Recognizing that peer-reviewed free online scholarship is cited five times as often and downloaded nearly one hundred times as much as articles in access-controlled journals, the Journal is committed to providing an open forum for the best ideas in neuroscience.

The Journal’s editors believe that electronic submission, peer review and electronic display can be achieved with great efficiency in time and effort. Quality of scholarship and time-to-publication are the features most attractive to both authors and readers.
