In 2006, Mali Levijatan emerged as the brainchild of a few political
science students and professors who jointly sought to fill in a
perceived academic void within the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb. Students were given a unique opportunity to publish their research and expose them to criticism. Although the publication showcases predominantly student-written work, Mali
Levijatan is nonetheless is open to cooperation with other student magazines in the Croatia and beyond and accepts contributions from other students and scholars around the world in all social science domains with the exception of politics which the journal's editorial staff views primarily as the exclusive right of the students and faculty of the Faculty of Political Science.
