Description

The Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Rio Grande do Sul (RIHGRGS) (Journal of the Rio Grande do Sul Historic and Geographic Institute) is published since 1860. It has published over a hundred volumes over more than 150 years of publications. It was founded by Baron of Porto Alegre, with the title of Revisa Trimensal do Instituto Historico e Geographico da Provincia de S. Pedro. Since 1920, it has regular publications and is an important means to disseminate knowledge about the Rio Grande do Sul and issues related to the history and sciences development in the state. The journal follows the standards established by the Brazilian Ministry of Education for reviewing and publishing intellectual works. The standards established by the MEC and the QUALIS are adopted as the main criterion of publication and the journal is recognized and classified into several areas of the 2015’s QUALIS list: History B3; Urban Planning B5; Social Sciences B4; Liberal Arts B2. Besides these, it also publishes in other areas like Law, Music and Geography. The papers are published after blind evaluation, following the double-blind review method. It is a biannual journal, and have printed and virtual versions. The printed version is traditional, made since the journal beginning. The virtual version, begun in 2015, has the same content and is fully available under the standards of Open Access, it can be entirely accessed and copied, regardless of the visitors identification.
