The journal Historia y Política [History and Politics] began publication in 1999. It comes out every six months, with peer reviews. It was an initiative of the
departments of History of Thought and Social and Political Movements at the UCM, and the department of Social History and the History of Thought at the UNED, both of which are linked to political science and sociology faculties. Since 2007 the journal has been jointly edited and managed by .
The journal provides an academically rigorous approach to political phenomena in history, offering new interpretations by applying comparative analysis and techniques from all the social sciences.
The journal Historia y Política has been selected for coverage in Thomson Reuters products and custom information services. Beginning with No. 19 (2008) it is indexed and abstracted in the Social Sciences Citation Index, the Social Scisearch, the Arts and Humanities Citation Index and the Journal Citation Reports/Social Sciences Edition.
