With the decline of the history role of classes, criticism of
capitalist society can no longer find most of its references in its
theories and in the practices of the proletarian movement as it has
done
since the early of the nineteenth century until the 1970's.
Today, even if identity declines persist, if communal fundamentalism
grows stronger in reaction to the global domination of the economy, we
will witness the return of critics who are not confined
to the narrow circle of "theorists" or to an academic reflection
marred by its involvement with the state. These critics express in
concrete terms the refusal of the tyranny of the capital and the
myths of the 'society of work,' the refusal to admit that individuals
are capable of being reduced to economic or social value.
Temps critique is not a confidential journal that devotes itself to
pure theory, but rather a report of critical activity in France and in
the world; an effort to develop a political action that takes into
account the transformations of capitalism and its new contradictions;
a criticism that affirms the 'becoming-other' of the relationships and
the human community.
