Asian Journal of Andrology (AJA), the official journal of Asian Society of Andrology and sponsored by the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was started in June 1999 and is a quarterly published in English.

AJA publishes new findings in basic and clinical (including modern, traditional and epidemiological) research on Andrology. Of special interest to the Journal are regulation of spermatogenesis, gene expression in accessory sex organs and external genitalia, feedback regulation of gonadotropins, sperm capacitation, anatomical studies of the reproductive tract, prostate diseases and physiology of penile erectile tissue. Announcements of professional meetings, postgraduate courses, symposia and other events of interest to andrologists are also published.

The Journal is indexed in many well-known international systems: BIOSIS, CA, CAB Abstracts, CAB Health, Current Contents/Clinical Medicine, EMBASE, Index Medicus, MEDLINE, PASCAL, Research Alert and SCI Expanded. The 2008 Impact Factor of AJA is 2.059 and ranks third among the international andrological journals, as indicated by the Journal of Citation Reports (JCR), Institute for Scientific Information, USA. As an international journal aiming at the promotion of andrological research and the enhancement of academic exchange between western and Asian andrology, AJA is distributed worldwide and invites papers from any corner of the world on all areas of andrology, both experimental and clinical (including modern, traditional, and epidemiological) with the following sections:
