“Problemy Kryminalistyki” quarterly is a Poland-unique source of information as regards theoretical and practical aspects of forensic and related (jurisprudence) sciences.
Papers published in the quarterly are devoted to investigation tactics and criminalistic means and methods (with a comprehensive coverage of the latest methods of detection, recovery and examination of evidence and their application in law enforcement).
Presented scientific developments, theoretical papers and practical solutions contribute to increased knowledge of forensic practitioners and are instrumental in crime prevention process.
“Problemy Kryminalistyki” is dedicated to the wide group of forensic experts and scene of crime officers, prosecutors, judges and attorneys, students of police schools and scientists dealing with forensic and related sciences. The largest part of the edition is circulated free-of-charge to the police units and forensic experts nationwide. The quarterly is also available in subscription.
Each issue contains reappearing thematic features. Section one is devoted to general forensics, where the authors present the results of their innovative and genuine research works as well as discuss legal aspects of forensic examinations. The prominent contributors include, among others, Prof. B. Hołyst, M. Kulicki, B. Młodziejowski, M. Owoc, B. Szukalski, J. Widacki, J. Kasprzak and Józef Gurgul (Ph.D.).
Forensic practice section contains primarily the reports from the area of chemistry, biology, osmology (scent identification), fingerprint examination, questioned documents, toolmarks and ballistics, speech and audio analysis as well as lie-detector (Polygraph) technique. These publications are the result of testing novel research methods by experts practitioners and present the most recent advances in forensic examinations.
Additionally, “Problemy Kryminalistyki” publish short scientific reports.
Each new publication from a field relevant to thematic profile of “Problemy Kryminalistyki” is reviewed in “Book Reviews” section. Reports from conferences, meetings and symposia appear under “Conference and Seminars” section, whereas the profiles of outstanding scientists ? in “History” part.
All articles are peer-reviewed by forensic experts from the Central Forensic Laboratory of the Police, “PK” Editorial Board as well as scientists representing leading research institutes in Poland.
