Description

This journal publishes in both electronic form and hard copies. Its scope includes all aspects related to Asian Languages and Computing studies, including, but not limited to:
Chinese language studies
Syntax
Semantics
Computer input and output of characters
Typesetting and design of characters
Coding and compression of text
Voice input and output, analysis, recognition and synthesis of speech
Language processing and text understanding
Machine translation
Software, hardware and design of language systems
Information retrieval, text processing
Representation of knowledge and inferencing, question answering
Applications of theories, methods and techniques.
WWW, Internet and other forms of electronic communications
Categories of paper published
Full Research Papers(P): These are regular research papers with proper writeup and fall into one of above areas. The papers will be reviewed by at least three reviewers for its scientific and technical merits. Only reports of completed works with concrete results, analysis and conclusion need to be submitted under this section. Un-tested proposals and ideas can only be considered under the category of Correspondence or Letters to Editors.
Correspondence(C): These are short articles on a certain research topics or developments. The papers are reviewed for its scientific and technical merits.
Letters to Editors(L): These letters consist of proposals, ideas and commentaries of original ideas and comments to other papers should be submitted to this section. A letter will be reviewed by the respective area editor for its scientific and technical merits before its publication.
Project Reports(R): These are reports of on-going or completed projects. Major setup of research facilities will also be considered under this section.
Product News(U): These are reports of new software and hardware available either as a form of shareware, freeware or commercial products. Again, the news will be revived by area editors for its technical merits and its usage.
Notes(N): These are extended abstracts of papers published in conferences and journals which has relevance to JCLC. Authors should indicate clearly where the papers are published and obtain the necessary clearance from the owner of the papers. Books and lecture notes are also included in this section.
Submitting manuscripts
Manuscripts will be reviewed for possible publication on the understanding that they are being submitted to this journal only, and have not been published, simultaneously submitted, or already accepted for publication in any other journal. All manuscripts must be submitted electronically to the online submission system (under maintenance at the moment) or by Email the editor-in-Chief (mzhang-AT-i2r.a-star.edu.sg).
Official language
The official language of this journal is English. All papers must be submitted with an abstract in English.
Papers that contains copyrighted materials
It is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission from both author and publisher to reproduce material which has appeared in another publication. Copies of this permission must also be enclosed with the manuscript.
Preparation of final manuscripts
The final manuscripts must be prepared in both pdf, Word/RTF format as the paper will be avaliable online by web browser and hard copies will also be printed. We use IE as a standard web browser. Viewing by other web browsers are not tested. The detailed typesetting format is given here.
Type and length of manuscript
The following restriction on the length of manuscripts must be observed:
Research papers - 10 MB, 50 pages
Letters to editors, commentaries - 5 MB, 10 pages
Project reports, R&D news - 5 MB, 10 pages
Product news, software and hardware - 2 MB, 1 page
short notes - 1 MB,5 pages
There will be no length or file size restriction on data, dictionary, corpus, program codes, html files submitted together with the papers.
Copyright transfer
A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to the publisher of this journal will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication.
The editors of the publication of IJALP reserved the right to edit, correct and select appropriate material from the above paper for publication. The necessary form for this agreement will be supplied.
