The Cahiers de l’AIEF, ou CAIEF, are published by the International
Association of French Studies (Association internationale des études
françaises or AIEF). Created after the Second World
War, the AIEF assembles teachers and scholars of the French language,
literature and culture. Its 600 members come from more than twenty
countries. Its main actions are an annual congress,
which takes place in Paris in July, and the publication of its
journal, which collects the proceedings of its congresses. Each issue
is organized around three or four themes which deal with literary
history or with authors or genres. Many of the Cahiers de l’AIEF have
been have been crucial in the development the discipline for more than
fifty years. The association benefits from the
support of the Centre national du livre (CNL) for the publication of
its journal.
