Description
The African Journal of Ancient Sciences SUNU XALAAT (a Wolof term meaning « our thought, our opinion, our reflection » on a given issue) is an international scholarly electronic journal (in open access) created in 2021 and devoted not only to the study of ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt and Black Africa, but also to contemporary traditional societies. It is published at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, in the Department of Ancient Languages and Civilisations of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, supported by the DECRYPTA Laboratory and attached to both the ARCIV (Arts and Civilisations) and ETHOS (Human and Social Studies) Doctoral Schools.. The Sunu Xalaat Review is currently published annually. It was founded by Dr Diouf Pierre Mbid Hamoudi and is managed with the collaboration of teacher-researchers from the Department of Ancient Languages and Civilisations (http://ucadlang.blogspot.com/). Its publications are generally in French and English; proposals for articles in German, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese are also welcome. The Journal publishes both academic articles and book reviews, as well as its own Proceedings and newsletters in various fields. The subjects covered, grouped together in thematic dossiers, deal with the sciences of Antiquity in the broadest sense and cover all areas of Greek, Roman and Egyptian-Ethiopian civilisation: archaeology, art, epigraphy, history, iconography, literature, linguistics, etc.
The Journal is also open to new issues devoted to the study of the culture of modern traditional African societies, a reality of which we are custodians, and to the study of African cultural similarities or differences, in various disciplines (sociology, geography, anthropology, ethnology, literature, language sciences, arts, psychology, etc.).
