Description

?dérive - Magazine for Urban Research? (dérive - Zeitschrift für Stadtforschung) is a critical, independent, interdisciplinary and international communication medium at the interface between academic journal and special-interest magazine. It is mainly printed in german and/or english language with over 500 international authors contributing to more than 1000 articles and reviews so far, from young scientists at the start of their urban research careers to well established, internationally acclaimed intellectuals like Richard Sennett, Peter Marcuse, Saskia Sassen or Loïc Wacquant. Every issue also features a unique work of art by an international artist as a visual commentary on urban space. The quarterly published magazine covers a broad spectrum of subjects dealing with urban issues. It aims to stimulate knowledge transfer between academic disciplines, urban experts and non-professionals in order to foster interdisciplinary discussion about urban developments and their socio-political impact. The issues include topics on urban development, housing, public space, safety policies, climate change, creative city, gentrification, urban activism and many more explored from a number of perspectives, as well as city portraits, interviews and a review section.
