Abstract

The ext. of the bark suppressed lipid peroxidn. of liposome by a dose dependent manner. Phenolic components of the exts. of 3-O-feruloylquinic acid and syringaresinol di-O-.beta.-glucopyranoside exhibited comparable antioxidant activity to that of .alpha.-tocopherol, and that of 5,5'-dimethyllariciresinol 4'-O-.beta.-glucopyranoside exhibited higher activity than that of .alpha.-tocopherol. Alkaloid components such as N-methylhigenamine 7-O-.beta.-glucopyranoside and berberine chloride did not show antioxidant activity.
